A Piper For Your Ceremonies

.

Who I Am Evan wedding

My name is Evan Kohler-Camp and I've played for many a Wedding, Birthday, party and Funeral in the Atlanta and North Georgia area. My clients have run from Senators, Air Force, Navy, Army, Marines, the RAAF, the RAF to the Bride or Groom waiting for their special moment.

I will work with you on making your occasion the most memorable it can be.

Pipes lend a dignity to your ceremony as well a offering a time honored tradition thousands of years old.

I am Pipe Major Emeritus of the Atholl Highlanders Pipes & Drums (USA) and served as Pipe Major for 13 years until 2012 when I retired. I have been a piper for over thirty years. I have piped at the August 5, 2000 gathering of 10,000 pipers in Edinburgh, Scotland, PipeFest 2005 and New York Tunes of Glory in 2002. If you need an entire band, come see the Atholl Highlanders Pipes & Drums (USA) web page at usahpd.com. I've been piping since 1983, 30 years of experience are behind me.

Wedding Tunes I Play:"Amazing Grace”, "Cutty's Wedding”, "Highland Cathedral”, "Mhairi's Wedding”,"Ode To Joy”, "Prince of Denmark's March”, "Rab's Wedding”, "Scotland the Brave”, "Those Endearing Young Charms”, "Trumpet Voluntary”, "Tyree Bridal Song”, "The Wedding March” and "The Wedding Recessional” .
(Please note:"The Wedding March” and "The Wedding Recessional” are not allowed by all churches as they are deemed "secular". Please check with your wedding coordinator).

I have played some weddings where the Bride and Groom wished "Lord of the Dance”,"Down By The Sally Garden” and "Bonny Portmore” to be played rather than traditional tunes. I am very flexible on your tunes as long as the tune can be transcribed to the pipes.

Birthdays

Many people want a piper for someone's birthday. I have played outside their window as the morning broke or have appeared at a designated place and time to play "Happy Birthday” or other tunes for them. Pipers actually CAN sneak up on people - just not while playing.

Parties

I have played at coming out parties as well as Derby Day parties. I have played at celebrations of the Queen Mother's Birthday as well as Fourth of July Celebrations. I have played at whiskey tastings and restaurant openings.

Saint Patrick's Day

Need a Saint Patrick's Day piper? I can handle a number of Irish tunes.
Irish Tunes I Play:"Brian Boru's March”, "The Eagles Whistle”, "Galway Bay”, "Galway Piper”, "Gary Owen”, "Ghillie Mhear”, "Irish Eyes”, "Kerry Dancers”, "Kilaloe”, "My Wild Irish Rose”, "O'Sullivan's March”, "Roddy McCorley”, "Sally Gardens” "Saint Patricks Day” and "Wearing of the Green”.

Burn's Night

The annual celebratory tribute to the life, works and spirit of the great Scottish poet, Robert Burns (1759-1796). Celebrated on, or about, the Bard's birthday, January 25th. A Burns Night Supper consists of the eating of a traditional Scottish meal, the drinking of Scotch whisky, and the recitation of works by or in the spirit of the Bard.

The chef, carrying in the haggis, follows the piper - playing "Brose & Butter”, "A Man's A Man For All That”, "Corn Rigs Are Bonny” or some other appropriate tune - in a dignified procession through the hall.

Christmas

I can join your Christmas celebration. I have piped children's choirs, as well as adult choirs, into the Church or have played outside the Church as the congregation have departed or arrived.

Christmas Tunes I Play:"Auld Lang Syne”, "All thru the Night”, "Angels We Have Hear On High”, "Away In A Manger”, "Bring A Torch Jeannette Isabella”, "Bunnesan- Child In the Manger”, "God Rest You Merry Gentlemen”, "Good King Wenceslas”, "Here We Come A-Wassailing”, "The Holly and the Ivy”, "I Saw Three Ships A Sailing”, "In The Moon of Winter”, "It Came Upon the Midnight Clear”, "Jingle Bells”, "Joy to the World”, "Little Drummer Boy”, "O Come, O Come Emanuel (Veni Emmanuel)”, "O Come, All Ye Faithful (Adeste Fidelis)”, "Silent Night, Holy Night”, "We Three Kings”, "What Child Is This?” and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas”.

Special Occasions

I can deliver the music in a variety of settings. I have played as guests went up the the gangway to a yacht, as boats and ships have been launched or have headed out to sea.

I have played on a nearby hill while the clients enjoyed a pleasent, catered meal in an alpine meadow. I have also played at the hole where a golfers have made their first "birdie". I can accomodate most situations you can imagine. I have even piped at house blessings and christenings.

Funerals

I have piped at Mason's funerals and am aware of the ceremony. I have marched 1.5 miles, uphill, on a gravel and dirt road in the North Georgia Mountains preceding the departed's horse and mourners.

For a funeral I can play outside the church or inside, depending on the building's acoustics. I can also play off in the distance as a tribute in any service of remembrance. .

After the service concludes, I can then pipe as the the coffin is taken away by the hearse.

At the grave site I can play during the lowering of the casket into the grave or as the Minister finishes the service. I can then continue playing as the mourners depart or take up "station" at the grave as it is filled. Another option is to have me circle the gravesite, then walk away slowly into the distance.

Funeral Tunes I Play:
"Amazing Grace”, "Eternal Father (Navy Hymn)”, "Flower of Scotland”, "Flowers of the Forest”, "Going Home”, "Just As I Am”, "Lord Lovat's Lament”, "Mist Covered Mountains”, "My Home”, "Nearer My God To Thee”, "Simple Gifts”, "Taps” and "Will the Circle Be Unbroken?”
